Since having children, and becoming engulfed in motherhood, I have found new artistic inspiration. My recent monoprints are about infant’s first encounters with nature; their sensory, visual and recreational appreciation of their surroundings through the seasons. I have started incorporating dried grasses into my prints and leaving rough edges to heighten the sensory and momentary aspects. Conveying movement and rhythm in my marks and compositions, I aim to capture the spontaneous character of young children and highlight the fleeting nature of childhood. This emulates the nature that surrounds them and of which they are part of.
